CSSC, CNOOC and Guangdong cooperate on LNG powered inland waterway vessels

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Guangdong Municipal People’s Government have inked strategic co-operation frame agreement for promoting LNG power conversion for inland waterway shipping.

The project, led by Guangdong Municipal People’s Government, will be implemented by CSSC and CNOOC, to promote conversion to LNG power for inland waterway vessels in Guangdong, especially for Pearl river region.
The three parties will share the resources and actively carry out the strategy to promote green transportation, and develop exemplary project for inland river ship emission control, said Ma Xingrui, provincial governor of Guangdong.

According to the agreement, Guangdong will complete the LNG powered ship conversion of 1,500 vessels and the construction of nineteen LNG refilling stations before 2025.
Upon the completion of the project, ship use LNG volume will reach around 400,000 tonnes per year, the ship particulate emission will reduce 19.5%.
