CONTAINER volume at the Port of Incheon continues to rise after reaching 283,858 TEU in October.
The port's container volume has increased to new monthly records since April 2020. Imported cargo volume was 140,445 TEU in October, 49.5 per cent of the total and a 3.4 per cent increase from the year prior.
Export shipments rose 10.9 per cent to 136,988 TEU. Transshipment and coastal cargo volume were 5,743 TEU and 682 TEU, respectively.
Cargo to or from China totalled 173,391 TEU, up 9.1 per cent from 2019. Import and export cargo increased 12.4 per cent and six per cent, respectively.
The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) cites the addition of five new routes to China and Southeast Asia in 2020 and a rise in use of the port by importers and exporters in the Seoul metropolitan area as the causes of the increases.
