SITC returns to Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for six containerships

SITC International has placed an order at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the construction of six 2,600 teu container vessels plus four options.

The six vessels on firm order will be delivered in 2022 to 2023.
The first batch of options is exercisable on or before 30 August 2021, and the second is exercisable on or before 30 November 2021.

Construction of the new vessels will enable SITC to expand its self-owned fleet of container vessels to meet the increasing demand for the company’s services.
This batch of new order follows the orders for six 1,800 teu containerships (plus six options) and four 2,400 teu containerships and one 2,700 teu containership that SITC signed with Yangzijiang in August and November 2020.

With these latest shipbuilding contract, Yangzijiang has secured new orders for 49 vessels worth approximately $1.42bn year to date in 2020.
