SINOTRANS Lines, a unit of Hong Kong-based but state-owned China Merchants, has entered into contracts to build four smaller box ships at two Chinese yards, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
Privately-owned Yangzijiang Shipbuilding will construct two 2,400-TEUers and China Merchants Jinling Shipyard will build the other two 1,100-TEUers.
The four containerships will start to deliver from 2023, which are expected to improve China Merchants Sinotrans Lines¡¯ services for the intra-Asia market upon delivery.
