A CARGO flight from Jakarta to Haikou of China's Hainan island, stopped over at Singapore under the fifth freedom traffic right which allows an airline to carry traffic from its home country to a second country before reaching a third country, reports Global Times.
It marked the first time that an all-cargo route under the fifth freedom traffic right occurred in the Hainan free trade port.
The opening will bolster Hainan's integration into the Southeast Asian cargo aviation route network. The air cargo route was jointly launched by an Indonesian airline and Alibaba's logistics arm Cainiao.
The flight used a B737-499 and will leave Jakarta every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. It will stop in Singapore and land at Haikou Meilan International Airport the next day.
Meilan airport has so far created seven international and regional cargo routes serving Russia, Germany, South Korea, France, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
