ONE of the world's biggest ships, the 24,000-TEU Ever Ace has docked in Taipei on the vessel's maiden voyage, reports Taiwan's Central News Agency.

At 400 metres long and 61.5 metres wide, it was the largest containership ever accommodated by an international harbour in Taiwan, according to Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC).
The ship, which has a deck the size of four football pitches, has a maximum cruising speed of 22.6 knots.
Ever Ace is the first of a series of 12 container ships ordered by Taiwan's Evergreen Marine from shipyards in China and South Korea.
It was built by South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries and was delivered on July 29. On July 30, the Ever Ace made its maiden voyage to Qingdao in China's Shandong province and then travelled to Shanghai and Ningbo before arriving in Taipei.
The green-painted Ever Ace is scheduled to head to China's Yantian port on its next stop before heading to Europe.
