"This project aims to have constant direct routes between Peru and Asia, to generate connectivity between Chile and the Capricorn Axis, which includes Bolivia, Uruguay, southern Peru, northern Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador and concentrate that synergy and link it with the Asian continent," said Alfonso Rebazza, leader of the Chancay logistics and industrial project, during the Latin American port fair Trans-Port 2021, held in Santiago, Chile.
The Chinese company, associated with the Peruvian mining group Volcan, is betting on complementing the Port of Callao and concentrating cargo from Chile, Colombia, and other South American countries.

The project, which is advancing in Phase 1 with the drilling of the tunnels that will connect the operational area with the Chancay logistics park, will add a port capacity of 1m teu and 6m tonnes of general and bulk cargo to Peru's port network.
The Chancay port-industrial node, located 78 km from Lima and with direct access to the Pan-American Highway, which is emerging as a complement to the Port of Callao, will require an investment of more than $3bn.
