Wan Hai confirms order for 5 new 13,100 TEU box ships

TAIWANESE container carrier Wan Hai Lines has confirmed the order of five 13,100 TEU container ships at Samsung Heavy Industries.
The contract between the two companies was signed last Saturday and the new vessels will be delivered starting in 2024, reports Container News.
This action comes after a similar order of thirteen 13,100 TEU vessels that Wan Hai made in 2021 at the same shipyard.
"These new builds are energy efficient and meet the requirements of latest environmental regulations. They are also certified with "Smart Ship" notations," said Wan Hai in a statement.
Currently, the Taipei-headquartered box line operates a fleet of 146 container ships.
