VIETNAM is increasing its importance as a transport hub for Gebruder Weiss, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
It's been ten years since Gebruder Weiss opened two locations in the nation: one in the economic centre of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and the second 1,600 kilometres further north in the capital Hanoi.
"Today we know that was the right decision," said Gebruder Weiss area manager Cristian Predan.
"The economic environment in Vietnam has improved steadily since we opened our first location there. The country's road and port infrastructure has been expanded, while demand for consumer and industrial goods is rising among the exceptionally young population."
Exports include products from the electronics, mechanical engineering, aviation, chemical, and food industries.
Gebruder Weiss transports these goods for customers to Singapore, South Korea, Europe, and the US.
Last year, the company increased the number of air and sea freight shipments by 30 per cent compared with the previous year.
