TAIWAN's Wan Hai Lines held ship naming ceremony for Wan Hai 295 and Wan Hai 296 accompanied by charity donations, but due to the Covid scare, a physical ceremony was replaced by an online one, reports Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.
Wan Hai 295 and Wan Hai 296 are the last two vessels in a series of 2,038-TEU ships built by China Shipbuilding Trading and Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard.
Christine Hsieh, vice president of shipping department, of the Far Eastern New Century Corporation and Grace Hsu, vice chairwoman of Gallant Ocean International named these two vessels during the ceremony.
The 2,038-TEU series is designed with LOA 175 metre, deadweight capacity of 23,802 tonnes on 10.5 metre draft and a maximum cruising speed of 20.66 knots. The design of 2,038-TEU series takes energy efficiency and environmentally-friendly aspect into account, said Wan Hai.
