SOUTH Korea's Incheon Port Authority (IPA) has announced that global shipping giant MSC launched its Pertiwi service at Incheon Port on July 15, reports BusinessKorea.
According to the IPA, the new service is the sixth regular container route opened at Incheon Port this year, bringing to 36 the total number of regular container services between Incheon and Southeast Asia.
The new weekly service offers customers a direct link from North China and Korea to Southeast Asia, providing improved transit times and more service offerings.
The ports served include Incheon and Busan in South Korea and those in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The first ship of the service, the MSC IDA II, arrived at Incheon Container Terminal (ICT) on July 15.
The service operates four 2,500 TEU vessels and the cargo volume is expected to reach about 20,000 TEU or more per year.
The port rotation includes Vung Tau of Vietnam, where several Korean companies such as KTCT Vietnamese Logistics Centre, POSCO, and Hyosung are located.
The service rotation is: Busan, Qingdao, Incheon, Dalian, Tianjin Xingang, Vung Tau, Laem Chabang, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Jakarta, Panjang, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas and returning to Busan.
