MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company's (MSC) newly launched Malabar service, consisting of four 2,400-TEU capacity vessels, has been welcomed at DP World's Vallarpadam International Container Transshipment Terminal in South India, reports Chennai's Hindu Daily.
The weekly service is expected to enhance connectivity between South India and West Asia, with direct and seamless access between Kochi, Mundhra, Karachi, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait (Shuwaikh Port), Qatar (Hamad Port), and Sri Lanka (Colombo).
The service is expected to create faster and more reliable connectivity, benefiting traders across the India-Middle East corridor and promoting economic growth between the two regions.
The Malabar service marks MSC's commitment to expanding trade routes through direct services and will strengthen trade relations between India and West Asia, enabling Indian exporters to have deeper access to markets in West Asia.
The Malabar service is the third weekly service sailing for West Asia from DP World Kochi, which has successfully handled six million TEU since its inception in 2011.
