CHINA's Qingdao Shipyard has entered into a shipbuilding contract with John Fredriksen's Seatankers for the construction of up to eight 82,000 dwt bulk carriers.
The deal includes four firm newbuild bulker contracts and a further four optional vessels, reports UK's Seatrade Maritime.
Measuring in 229 metres long and 32.26 metres wide, the bulk carriers will be able to meet all the requirement of EEDI phase III.
It is a significant order for Qingdao Shipyard and is another series of shipbuilding order secured from overseas client following 206,000 dwt bulk carriers and 5,900 TEU containerships orders inked with Belgian CMB, said the shipyard.
