COSCO SHIPPING Lines has opened its latest branch office in Casablanca, Morocco on February 1, reports Greece's Container News.

The establishment of COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Morocco) SARL in the central hub of Casablanca underscores the growing significance of North Africa in European trade, the company said.

Furthermore, aligned with COSCO SHIPPING Europe's overarching strategy, known as the "Big corridor and 3 networks", which aims to connect Europe to global destinations through water and rail transportation, as well as a comprehensive warehousing and distribution network.

Diamond Line, a feeder and shortsea carrier under the umbrella of Cosco Shipping Lines (Europe) GmbH, will play an important role in expanding business operations in North Africa.

As part of this strategic initiative, Diamond Line's subsidiary, Delphis Gdansk, completed its inaugural journey to Casablanca in September of the previous year. This marked the commencement of the Turkey-Spain-Morocco (TSM) service, a route linking key ports in Marmara with Spain and Casablanca.

The TSM service, featuring four container ships, includes three operated by Diamond Line, utilizing state-of-the-art and environmentally efficient 1,900 TEU vessels. This service facilitates efficient connectivity between major ports and offers a rapid one-day connection to Valencia.

"With the opening of COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Morocco) SARL in Casablanca, we are delighted to make a clear commitment to the importance of North Africa in trade with Europe and the world, as we continue to pursue our mission to serving the global trade and local societies together.

"There is a huge potential for Morocco and our customers to grow together in the next couple of years, as North Africa, and Morocco in particular, will be a key focus for our global coverage by our liner services," stated Wang Mingfeng, president of COSCO SHIPPING (Europe) GmbH.
