SOUTH Carolina Ports are experiencing significant cargo growth, driven by highly efficient operations and a prime location in the rapidly expanding Southeast region, according to a news release.

In July, container volumes increased eight per cent compared to last year.

The surge is attributed to the start of peak season and a growing regional population, which boosted loaded imports six per cent.

"The South Carolina market is ripe for companies to put new investment in the ground and benefit from direct access to our world-class port system," said SC Ports CEO Barbara Melvin.

"We deliver reliable port service, a strong intermodal network, and future capacity to support growth."
