GENEVA based Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) will levy July 1 rate increase of US$500 per TEU and $529 per FEU on cargo from Asia to the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa.
At the same time MSC, the world's second biggest container carrier after Maersk, will levy a backhaul rate increase of $200 per TEU and $250 per FEU from north Europe to the Far East, the company announced.
MSC has also revised its previously announced July 1 rate increase on all cargo from the Far East to West Africa. The new increase will be $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
Additionally, the carrier will implement a bunker contribution for all cargo between North Europe and the Mediterranean, and South America's west coast, Central America and Venezuela ports for July.
