China’s CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard announced that the company has signed a letter of intent with Japan’s Kumiai Senpaku for the construction of one 40,000 cu m LPG vessel.
The ship type, MGC (PANDA® 40P), is self-developed by Jiangnan Shipyard following its VLGC product series of PANDA® 83P/84P/86P.
This type of vessel, fitted with LPG dual fuel engine, will have three A-type independent liquid tanks, which are able to carry more types of petrochemical products than just LPG. Equipped with intelligent system, the vessel will help the owner to optimise shipping route, improve energy and ship management efficiency.

The LPG carrier is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2023.

Jiangnan Shipyard, delivered its first 3,000 cu m LPG carrier in 1991, and had built over 60 LPG vessels. The shipyard has two brands of LPG carrier, the PANDA and the CAMEL.
Currently, Jiangnan Shipyard has over 20 LPG carriers orderbook on hand.
