HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), now a Cosco unit, has announced new Safety and Security declarations requirements for cargo moving to Great Britain called a Safety & Security (S&S) Declaration.
This took effect January 1 when the United Kingdom ended its inclusion in the European Union and became a fully independent state.
This S&S filing will covers all import, transshipment and Freight Remain on Board (FROB) cargo, but subject to Northern Ireland who remains as a part of the European Union (EU) Customs, due to the terms of the Northern Ireland Protocol special consideration made to protect its soft border with the Republic of Ireland.
"To comply with this regulation, you are required to provide complete and accurate shipping instructions (SI) before the SI cutoff time. This information will be published in our Booking Acknowledgements (BA)," said the OOCL statement.
OOCL will maintain close communications with its customers if there are any further developments.
