The first LPG dual-fuelled vessel in Japan has been named at Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI).

The LPG-fuelled, 84,299 cu m, LPG carrier Crystal Asteria was named at KHI’s Sakaide Shipyard. The vessel is scheduled for delivery later this year to Kumiai Navigation in Singapore.
The vessel was named Crystal Asteria by Yagi, Representative Director and Executive Vice President of Astomos Energy Corporation and his wife, Yoshiko cut the ceremonial rope.

The vessel is fitted with a Kawasaki-MAN B&W 7S60ME-C10.5-LGIP electronically controlled liquefied petroleum gas injection diesel engine manufactured by Kawasaki.
“Kawasaki will continue to contribute to the realization of a low-carbon and decarbonized society by developing and providing environmentally friendly ship technologies, including various types of merchant ships that comply with environmental regulations, such as LPG-fuelled LPG carriers, and liquefied hydrogen carriers, which are attracting attention as next-generation energy sources,” the shipbuilder said.
