A NEW container service linking Taicang port, 60 kilometers upstream from Shanghai in Jiangsu Province, and Vietnam has been launched, reports Beijing's China News Service.
Two ships, one a 1,100-TEUer and the other of 1,400 TEU will service the new route, which operates weekly to Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City.
The new route will help boost the development of China's "dual circulation" policy and the Belt and Road Initiative and the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, according to the port's administrative committee.
Taicang port currently operates four container liner routes to southeast Asia, providing convenient logistics services for trade enterprises in Suzhou, a national high- and new-tech industrial base in the province and other cities along the Yangtze River.
For the 12th consecutive year Taicang port has consolidated its leading position along the Yangtze River waterway by handling more than Sven million TEU in 2021.
