Port of Savannah suffers month-to-month container drop

THE Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is reporting that container traffic at the Port of Savannah in February reached 395,000 TEU, reports London's Port Technology.
While the Port of Savannah experienced a decrease in overall container throughput for January, with 421,714 TEU, it was still the second busiest February in the history of the GPA.
The busiest February ever was in 2022, when the GPA moved 460,400 TEU. During the period spanning from July through December 2022, the GPA increased its share of US container exports to 12.3 per cent, up 0.4 per cent from the same period in the previous year.
Furthermore, the GPA's share of the import market rose three-quarters of a point to 11.1 per cent for the fiscal year to date through December.
"Volume and market share trends show that despite a slowing economy, Georgia is outperforming the competition," said GPA chairman Joel Wooten.
