Seafarers on vessels calling Japan during the Christmas period are set for a chocolate treat as part of parcels distributed by the Mission to Seafarers (MTS) Japan.

Each year the MTS Japan distributes around 1,000 Christmas parcels usually consisting of practical items such as woollen hats, knitted by generous volunteers, and items such as toiletries.

This year MTS Chaplain in Kobe, Paul Tolhurst, approached Nestlé Japan, who are headquartered in the Japanese port city, for a donation and they responded with some 3,024 Kit Kats. That’s 144 bags of Kit Kats in 21 boxes (pictured above) in case readers are curious.

“This is definitely going to help cheer up seafarers who have been unable to go on leave for many months due to the disruption in crew changes caused by Covid-19,” commented Chris Eve, chairman of MTS Japan.
