Another Solstad vessel secures long-term work with Italian cabling giant
Italian cabling giant Prysmian has awarded a five-year contract to Norwegian shipping company Solstad Offshore for a subsea construction vessel (CSV) set to support the installation of power cable systems on the company’s projects.
The CSV Normand Ocean will be on a firm contract with Prysmian which will commence during the first or second quarter of 2027 and run until 2032, with an additional two-year option.
The vessel joins CSV Normand Pacific which has been on a charter with Prysmian since August 2016 and is on a firm contract with the Italian company until the end of 2030.
“We are pleased to announce another long-term contract with Prysmian, which expands our partnership with the company that started back in 2016. Both Normand Ocean and Normand Pacific play important roles in the ongoing energy transition, in which Solstad has a large and growing footprint,” said Lars Peder Solstad, CEO of Solstad Offshore.
Built in 2014, Normand Ocean is an advanced DP2 subsea construction vessel equipped with a 150-ton active heave compensated subsea crane. It is owned by Solstad Maritime, in which Solstad Offshore holds an ownership share of 27,3%.
Solstad this month also secured contract extensions for its Normand Subsea and Normand Energy CSVs.
